Osseo Area Schools Adult Basic Education (ABE) offers free classes for adults. Our caring staff can help you achieve your goal!
We can help you
- Learn English.
- Improve your reading, writing, or math skills.
- Prepare for the GED exam.
- Earn an Adult Diploma.
Our school year begins in September and continues through early June. Students can start anytime during the school year.
- Our EL program is for students who want classes to learn English (speaking, listening, reading, and writing).
- Our ABE program is for students who want classes to work on reading, writing, and math skills.

The state adult high school diploma is a competency-based diploma, completed through participation in an approved Minnesota Adult Basic Education program, and recognized by the state through a diploma awarded by the Minnesota Department of Education.
Students can choose to come to class in-person or join the same class online from home in all classes.
English Language Learning (ELL) instruction is provided for immigrants and refugees who are learning English.
GED preparation at Osseo ABE helps adults prepare to take and pass the assessment in order to obtain a high school credential.

The first step to enrolling in Osseo Area Schools Adult Basic Education is to fill out our online registration form. (If needed, a friend or family member can help you fill this out.)
Beginning in fall 2024, the North Star Promise (NSP) Scholarship program will create a tuition and fee-free pathway to higher education for eligible Minnesota residents at eligible institutions. Learn more on the Minnesota Department of Higher Education website.
You may qualify for free tax return preparation through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) or AARP Tax-Aide. Learn more on the Minnesota Department of Revenue website.
