Additional graduations across Osseo Area Schools

Additional graduations across Osseo Area Schools

Spring graduations and celebrations aren’t just for high school seniors! Over the past two weeks, many other district students have taken part in graduation ceremonies or celebrations of different kinds. Check out just a few of them:

Basswood Elementary School fifth grade parade

On the last day of school, fifth graders at Basswood said goodbye to their classmates, staff and the school with a fifth grade parade around the building. As they made their way around the outside of the building, students in other grades and staff members gave them high fives and cheered for them, wishing them well in middle school.

Brooklyn Middle STEAM School’s (BMS) 8th grade AVID graduation

The students who completed BMS’s Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) programming celebrated the end of their middle school AVID journey with a graduation ceremony May 21. These 30 AVID students have spent countless hours acting as leaders in their community, developing organizational skills, practicing critical thinking skills and learning more about different college and career pathways.

Crest View Elementary School

Every Crest View Elementary School student celebrated their graduation from Crest View on June 5 with special ceremonies that ran throughout the afternoon: one for kindergarteners, one for grades 1-4 and another for fifth grade students. The events included songs, photo slideshows and a chance for students to walk across the stage and be recognized by their families and school community.

Weaver Lake: A Science, Math & Technology School’s D.A.R.E. graduation

Weaver Lake’s fifth grade students celebrated the completion of their Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program May 30 with a graduation ceremony, which included four students who were chosen to share information about their D.A.R.E. journey by writing contest-winning essays about their experience in the program. The Maple Grove Police Department partnered with Weaver Lake to bring the D.A.R.E. program to the school.

Fifth grade graduations (multiple sites)

Multiple schools hosted fifth grade graduations/celebrations of some sort. Rice Lake Elementary School hosted a fifth grade graduation ceremony on June 4. At the graduation, a student from each class shared an essay they had written about their experiences at Rice Lake. Each student received a certificate for their accomplishment, with their families and staff cheering for them as they head to middle school. Woodland Elementary School hosted a fifth grade graduation ceremony May 30.

Park Brook Elementary School tree plantings

Fifth grade students at Park Brook Elementary School have a tradition of planting trees as a fifth grade class at the end of their elementary school career. This year’s class voted to plant magnolia trees. Then, when it comes time for graduating seniors to visit the school for their graduation walk-through, they can visit the trees they once helped to plant and see how large they’ve become.

Four Star Express prekindergarten end of year celebrations (multiple sites)

Four Star Express prekindergarten programs across the district commemorated the end of the school year with joyful class celebrations. Students performed songs and movements for staff, families and caregivers to proudly showcase what they learned during the school year. Each student received a certificate, and there were treats and pictures with staff to wrap up the special occasions.
