District elementary schools celebrate spring with family BBQ events

The smell of barbeque filled the air around the greenspaces of two district elementary schools May 10, as students and families from Palmer Lake and Weaver Lake: A Science, Math & Technology School enjoyed a beautiful afternoon with their school communities. The nutrition services staff put together a picnic feast of hamburgers, hot dogs and many delicious sides like watermelon, salad, fruit and cookies. 

Family BBQ events are an annual spring tradition at many of the district’s elementary schools and serve as an important opportunity to invite families into schools to gather with and get to know staff and other families from their child’s school.
