Park Center Senior High’s Career Resource Center hosts sports-related career panel
Sara Schreiner, college and career counselor at Park Center Senior High School (PCSH), works hard to expose students to a wide variety of career opportunities to help them decide on their next step after high school. On Jan. 9, Schreiner invited several local professionals with different sports-related careers to the school’s career resource center for a panel.
During the career panel, a group of 35 students had a chance to talk in a small group setting with each panelist, rotating around the room until they had spoken with each one.
The event’s panelist included:
- Keisha Wyatt, a director of international marketing with the Minnesota Vikings
- Anita Adejei-Wiafe, a director of people and culture for the Minnesota Vikings
- Kristin Gow, a sports technology product leader with Genius Sports
- Tyrone Mattison, a sales representative for the Minnesota Twins
- Jamal “Shango” James, a former Welterweight boxing champion of the world who coaches and mentors at his gym
The panelists answered students’ questions and shared information about their career paths, what a typical work day looks like, favorite aspects of their jobs, challenges and how they overcame adversity or rejection while finding their way in the professional world.
